The rules for selling Chameleon SDR licences: how you place an order, how you receive the key, when you may withdraw from the contract and how to make a complaint.
IN FORCE FROM [FILL IN: date]
§1 Who is selling
The seller is [FILL IN: name], [FILL IN: address]. [FILL IN: legal form]
Contact: [FILL IN: e-mail address]. The same address is used for correspondence and complaints.
These terms cover sales made through [FILL IN: website address] and are provided free of charge in a form you can save and print.
Where the offer applies. The offer is addressed only to Customers in European Union countries. Because of legal requirements and patent protection no sales are made outside the Union, and orders placed from outside it are refused.
§2 Definitions
- Program: Chameleon SDR, software for Windows installed through a setup wizard.
- Licence key: the string that unlocks the Program's features; it is handled by the Seller's licence server (license.c-sdr.pl).
- Customer: anyone who buys a licence.
- Consumer: a natural person buying for purposes unrelated to their business or profession. Consumer rights also apply to a sole trader when the purchase is not of a professional character for them.
- Digital content: the Program and the licence key, supplied without a physical medium.
§3 What you need
Minimum requirements. Below this level the Program may fail to start or run with delays.
- 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
- A 9th-generation Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 3000 series processor, or newer.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- At least 10 GB of free disk space.
- For the 2.0 look (§4): a graphics card with OpenGL 3.3 (DirectX 11 class) and up-to-date drivers. The classic 1.3.5 look does not need it.
- An SDR receiver together with the drivers from its manufacturer.
- Internet access for the first activation of the key and for the repeated licence check, which the Program performs on its own at start-up once seven days have passed since the previous one. Otherwise the Program works offline, and a connection is further useful for map tiles, satellite orbits, downloading an extra translation pack or a larger speech model, and receiver drivers.
- A current browser and a working e-mail address to place an order.
Tested hardware. The beta has been tested with RTL-SDR v3 and SDRplay receivers. The Program also supports other receivers: other RTL-SDR models, the HackRF, Airspy, ADALM-PLUTO and bladeRF directly, and the LimeSDR and models outside that list through SoapySDR. Their operation has not been verified and the Seller does not guarantee it.
The map and provider keys. There are twenty-one map backgrounds, and the Program asks no map server for anything until you switch online tiles on. Most sources require you to enter your own provider key (MapTiler, Stadia Maps, Thunderforest, Azure Maps, Mapbox or Geoapify) in the settings, or the address of your own tile server. Two U.S. Geological Survey sources need no key but cover the United States only. A key is stored separately for each provider, and tiles once downloaded stay in the cache. Those keys are issued to you by the providers on their own terms, and they are responsible for the availability of their services. Without a key APRS positions still work, only with no map underneath.
Transcription and translation run locally and are demanding on hardware. Try the Program with the free 7-day demo key before buying.
§4 Licences and prices
- 30-day key: 19.99 zł. Valid for 30 days counted from the first activation. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: nothing renews automatically.
- Annual key: 199.99 zł. Valid for 365 days counted from the first activation. Also a one-time purchase, with no automatic renewal.
- Lifetime key: 399.99 zł. No expiry date. The support period, during which the Seller releases updates to the Program on the terms described below, lasts at least 5 years from the date of purchase.
- Demo key: free, valid for 7 days from the first activation, sent to the address you give, one per address and device.
Prices are given in Polish zloty and are the final prices for the Customer. [FILL IN: VAT statement].
One paid key activates the Program on two machines.
Two looks, one licence. From version 2.0 the Program has two looks available in one installer: the new one (version 2.0) and the classic one (version 1.3.5). You choose in the installer which to install: one or both. The key works in both, and the choice of look changes neither the scope of the licence nor the number of machines. A key bought before version 2.0 was released works in it as well, provided you install it to the folder the installer suggests, without changing the path; after installation to a different folder the earlier licence will not be recognised. Reception, decoders, settings and data are shared; the differences between the looks are described on the “Version 2.0” page of the site.
What the licence covers. You buy a licence for the Program in the version available on the day of purchase and for the updates the Seller releases during the validity period of the licence, and with a lifetime key for at least 5 years from the day of purchase. The licence is not a subscription to a service: the Program runs on your computer, not on the Seller’s side.
When updates are released. During the validity period of the licence, and with a lifetime key during the support period, the Seller releases updates when they are needed: when the Program stops working in accordance with the contract or a security vulnerability has to be fixed. If the Program works correctly, no new version has to be released. New features are added at the Seller’s discretion. This does not limit your rights under §9.
Feature changes in later versions. The Program is under development, and later versions may change, replace or remove individual features where there is a valid reason for it: a change in the law, the position of a holder of copyright, patent or trade mark rights, the withdrawal of a third-party component or service or a change in its terms, a security requirement, or technical necessity. This applies in particular to features that depend on other people’s rights, such as TETRA decoding. No such change ever carries an extra charge for you.
Updating is voluntary. The Program does not update itself. Installing a new version may take away your access to a feature removed in it, so before a feature present on the day of your purchase is removed the Seller announces it in advance on the c-sdr.pl home page and on the Download page, and states in the update notes what was removed and why. You will also get this information by e-mail (the “Messages about new versions” paragraph below) unless you have opted out of such messages; it is still worth looking at the site before installing a new version. You may stay on the version you have: it keeps working with your key, on the terms in force on the day of purchase.
Messages about new versions. The licence includes messages about new versions and important updates of the Program you have bought, sent to the e-mail address given at payment; when you buy, you confirm that you acknowledge this. The Seller sends them only for big and significant changes (a new version of the Program, a feature changed or removed, an important fix), with no advertising and nothing about other products or services, and does not share your address with others for marketing. You can opt out of these messages at any time by replying to a message or writing to the address in §1; opting out does not affect the licence. With a demo key we send them only with your voluntary consent, which is not a condition of getting the key.
If a change does not suit you. At your request the Seller will make the last version of the Program from before the change available to you at no additional cost, for the validity period of your licence, and with a lifetime key for at least 5 years from the day of purchase. You send the request to the address in §1, with details that allow the purchase to be verified. If a change significantly impairs your access to the Program or your use of it and the Seller does not make the pre-change version available, you may terminate the contract at no cost within 30 days of the day you were informed of the change, or of the day it was made if that is later. The Seller then refunds the part of the price corresponding to the unused period of the licence, and with a lifetime key to the remaining period of the update commitment. This does not limit your rights under §9 or any other statutory rights.
Beta version. The Program is currently released as a beta. It may contain bugs and missing features. The Seller undertakes to release fixes for the validity period of the licence and, with a lifetime key, for the support period. This does not limit the rights in §9: if the Program does not work as described, a complaint may still be made.
Transcription accuracy. Speech recognition is not error-free. It needs a very clean and clear signal to work properly. Noise, fading, weak reception, overlapping conversations and heavy voice compression all reduce accuracy, and on a poor signal the text may be wrong or not appear at all. The same applies to translation, which works on the recognised text. The Seller does not promise any particular level of recognition accuracy.
§5 How the contract is made
- You choose a licence on the website and click the purchase button.
- You are taken to the Stripe payment page, where you give your e-mail address and payment details.
- Before paying you confirm that you accept these terms and that the key is to be delivered immediately, and you acknowledge that you will receive messages about new versions and important updates of the Program (§4).
- The contract is concluded the moment the payment is confirmed by the payment provider.
Placing the order carries an obligation to pay. Confirmation of the contract, together with the key, is sent to the e-mail address you gave.
§6 Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. The Seller neither sees nor stores your card number. The available payment methods are shown by Stripe at the moment of purchase.
[FILL IN if you issue invoices: invoicing rules and deadline]
§7 Delivery of the key
- The key appears on the confirmation page right after payment and is also sent to your e-mail address.
- If something fails on our side, the key will be delivered without delay, at the latest within 24 hours of the payment being received.
- If the key has not arrived, write to the contact address in §1 and quote the e-mail address used for the purchase.
You download the Program from the Seller's website. SDR receiver drivers come from their own authors and are not part of the product being sold.
If the licence system is shut down. Should the Seller's licence server (license.c-sdr.pl) permanently stop working, a Customer who wishes to obtain a version of the Program that does not require online activation must contact the Seller at [FILL IN: e-mail address] and give the details that allow the purchase to be verified (for example the order number or the e-mail address used at the time of purchase). Once the request has been verified, the Seller will send a working version of the software to the Customer's e-mail address within 30 days of receiving the complete request.
§8 Right of withdrawal
A consumer normally has 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason.
By buying a key you lose that right. Under article 38(1)(13) of the Polish Consumer Rights Act there is no right of withdrawal for digital content supplied without a physical medium if performance began with your express and prior consent, after you were informed that you would thereby lose the right of withdrawal, and you acknowledged this. You give that consent on the payment page, before paying, and receive confirmation of it by e-mail together with the key.
If you do not want to give up the right of withdrawal, do not tick that consent. You will then not be able to complete the purchase, because the key is delivered immediately and there is no other way of supplying it.
Before buying you can test the Program free of charge with a 7-day demo key.
Losing the right of withdrawal does not take away the rights in §9. If the Program does not work as agreed, you may complain regardless of this clause.
§9 Complaints
The Seller is liable for the conformity of the digital content with the contract under chapter 5b of the Polish Consumer Rights Act.
- Send your complaint by e-mail to the address in §1. Describe the problem and give the licence key and the date of purchase.
- You will receive a reply within 14 days of the complaint reaching us.
- If the Program does not conform to the contract, you may demand that it be brought into conformity. Where that is impossible or would involve excessive costs, you may declare a price reduction or withdraw from the contract on statutory terms.
- A refund is returned by the same route the payment arrived, within 14 days of the complaint being accepted.
A computer that does not meet the minimum requirements in §3, missing SDR receiver drivers, a map with no provider key of your own, or transcription errors on a weak or noisy signal are not defects of the Program. That is what the demo key is for.
§10 Using the Program
- You buy a licence to use the Program, not the copyright in it.
- The licence is non-exclusive, personal and covers two machines.
- You may not resell, share or publish the key, circumvent the licence protection, or reverse engineer the Program beyond what the law allows.
- The Program is a passive receiver: it does not transmit. You are responsible for using it in accordance with the law of your country, including the rules on the confidentiality of communications.
- Codec tables and decryption keys are obtained by you; the Program does not contain them.
- The Program contains only a decoding engine. It has no ability to break, guess or bypass encryption keys, and playing back the audio requires the correct key to be entered by hand by the user.
- The attribution drawn in the corner of the map, naming the tile provider and the OpenStreetMap contributors, is a condition of the licence on those tiles. It must not be removed or covered up, including on screenshots you publish.
- Sharing the key with third parties or attempting to circumvent the licence entitles the Seller to block the key.
§11 Personal data
Data processing is described in the privacy policy.
§12 Disputes
A consumer may use out-of-court complaint procedures: the help of a district or municipal consumer ombudsman, the provincial trade inspection authority, or the guidance of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. The EU ODR platform ceased operating on 20 July 2025, so no link to it is given.
Using these routes is voluntary. The Seller [FILL IN: agrees / does not agree] to out-of-court dispute resolution.
§13 End of sales and of the project
The Seller may stop selling licences at any time. The steps below then apply, and at the end the Program is made available to everyone free of charge, as open source software.
- Announcement. The Seller announces the end of sales on c-sdr.pl and by e-mail to Customers, giving the date on which the support period ends.
- Support period. It lasts until 5 years have passed since the last sale of a lifetime key, so every lifetime key holder gets a full 5 years of support from the day of their purchase. If no lifetime key has been sold, the support period lasts one year from the end of sales. During this time the Seller releases updates on the terms set out in §4, and the licence server keeps running, so keys can be activated as before.
- Publication. No later than 90 days after the end of the support period, the Seller will publish the complete source code of the last version of the Program (both looks) with a description of how to build it, and a ready-made installer that requires neither a licence key nor online activation.
- Under what licence. Under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPL-3.0), which allows anyone to use, copy, modify and distribute the Program free of charge, provided that modified versions that are distributed also remain open under the same licence. Third-party components keep their own licences and notices (see Legal notes).
- Where. In a public repository on the Seller's GitHub account (github.com/SP8UEV) or, should that service be unavailable, in another public service of this kind.
- Link on the website. For at least one year from the day of publication, c-sdr.pl will show a link to the repository.
- After this publication the Program works without a key, so the licence server may be switched off.
Earlier end. Should the Seller have to end the project before the support period is over (for example because of illness), the Seller will announce this on c-sdr.pl and publish the Program on the terms above within 90 days of the announcement. You may then request a refund of the part of the price proportional to the unused period: for a lifetime key, the number of full months remaining until 5 years from the day of your purchase; for other keys, the number of full days remaining until the end of their validity. Send the request to the address in §1 with details that allow the purchase to be verified; the refund is made by the same method as the payment, within 14 days.
Only those elements whose release is prohibited on the day of publication by law or by the rights of third parties (for example someone else's patents or licences) may be left out; the Seller will then state in the repository what is missing and why. The repository will not contain customer data or keys and passwords to the Seller's services. Publication does not limit your rights under §4 and §9.
§14 Free services on the website
This section constitutes the terms of services provided by electronic means within the meaning of the Polish Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means. The service provider is the Seller named in §1. All services listed below are free of charge.
- Browsing the website c-sdr.pl, including the choice of language and program version, which your browser remembers on your device.
- Contact form: sending a message to the Seller. This is a one-off contract: it is concluded when you send the message and ends when the message is delivered.
- Demo key: a free 7-day key (§4), requested on the website or from within the Program. The contract is concluded when you send the request and ends when the key expires.
- Messages about new versions (§4): the contract lasts until you opt out. You can do so at any time by replying to a message or writing to the address in §1.
Technical requirements. A device with internet access, an up-to-date browser with JavaScript enabled and, for the contact form and the demo key, a working e-mail address. The contact form is protected against bots by Cloudflare Turnstile, which must be able to load in your browser.
No unlawful content. You may not send unlawful content through the forms, in particular content that is offensive or infringes the rights or personal interests of others, nor spam or malware. You may not request a demo key for someone else's e-mail address without the owner's consent.
Ending the services. You can stop using any of these services at any time, simply by no longer using it. The Seller may refuse or stop providing a service to anyone who breaches the ban on unlawful content or tries to get around the demo key limit, and may, for important technical or legal reasons, close the contact form or stop issuing demo keys, announcing this on the website.
Complaints. Send complaints about these services by e-mail to the address in §1, describing the problem. You will receive a reply within 14 days of receipt.
Risks. Using the internet involves typical risks such as malware, spam or impersonation of the sender of a message (phishing). The Seller never asks for passwords or card details by e-mail; download the Program only from the Download page on c-sdr.pl. How personal data is processed is described in the privacy policy.
§15 Final provisions
- Matters not covered here are governed by Polish law, including the Civil Code and the Consumer Rights Act. This does not limit the protection a consumer enjoys under the law of their country of habitual residence.
- These terms may change, for example when prices or regulations change. Orders already placed are governed by the version in force on the day of purchase.
- The Polish version of these terms is the binding one; this translation is provided for convenience.
